Towards improved quality in organic food production
- 5th Intl QLIF Training and Exchange workshop
Introduction
Consumers’ expectations about organic food are covering both production and the product itself. Organic production is regulated and guaranteed, which is not so in case of product quality. For a further consumers’ support, quality of organic produce might become a key factor.
The 5th (last) seminar within the QLIF project will be focusing on the most actual research output related to this quality question. Expert researchers from QLIF project partners and other European Institutions will bring in their knowledge and experience related to food quality and to challenges for the organic sector.
The aim of the workshop is to introduce participants to both background and actual knowledge, and both theory and practice of research approaches and techniques, which are suited for the questions around product quality and how to achieve it. Aspects of human health will be touched but are not the central theme.
Participants will be Ph.D students and junior scientists/post-doctoral researchers. There is a maximum of 40 participants.
Just as the forgoing four workshops, this meeting will be an excellent opportunity for junior scientists and students to meet senior experts from QLIF partner organisations and other European institutions. The meeting has the character of a ‘winter school’ with an intensive interaction between contributors and participants.
To the seminar team belong researchers from The Louis Bolk Instituut that is a research institute for organic agriculture, nutrition and health. Knowledge and skills, gained and developed in 30 years of research in organic agriculture will be brought into the seminar. Both lectures and skill training belong to the program.
To the seminar team also belong researchers from Newcastle University (UK), University of Kassel (Germany), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), Bioforsk Økologisk (Norway), and the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) (Switzerland).
